Chakras, crystals, energy work and the traditions around them. A note on how this section is written: these are contemplative and symbolic frameworks with long histories, not descriptions of anatomy or medicine. The pages treat them as what they are — maps of inner experience that many people find genuinely useful — without claiming they do things there is no evidence they do.
That matters most where health is involved. Nothing in this section is a substitute for medical care, and any source telling you that energy work replaces treatment is one to walk away from.
The Chakra System
Seven centres running from the base of the spine to the crown, each associated with a set of themes. Most traditions advise working from the bottom upward, for a practical reason rather than a doctrinal one: the stability the lower centres represent is what keeps upper-centre practice from becoming ungrounding.

Crystals
Used as focus objects within a practice. The useful framing is that a stone gives attention somewhere to rest and a ritual something to hold — not that it acts on its own.

Aura, Protection and Energy Clearing
Practices for people who find that other people’s moods and environments affect them heavily. Whatever the mechanism, having a deliberate ritual for arriving and leaving is genuinely useful if you are the sort of person who absorbs a room.

The Seven Centres, Briefly
A short orientation, so the individual pages make sense in sequence. Each centre is associated with a location, a set of themes, and traditionally a colour and a seed sound.
- Root — base of the spine. Safety, stability, having enough, belonging to a place.
- Sacral — lower abdomen. Emotion, pleasure, creativity, appetite for life.
- Solar plexus — upper abdomen. Agency, will, self-direction, boundaries.
- Heart — centre of the chest. Connection, compassion, grief, the willingness to be affected.
- Throat — throat. Expression, honesty, saying the thing.
- Third eye — between the brows. Perception, intuition, seeing a situation clearly.
- Crown — top of the head. Meaning, connection to something larger, stillness.
Work From the Bottom Up
This is the most consistent practical advice across traditions and the one most often skipped, because the upper centres are the interesting ones. Working on meaning and perception without the stability the lower centres represent tends to leave people spacey and less able to function rather than more.
A useful rule of thumb: if a session leaves you unable to concentrate, oddly detached, or floating for hours afterwards, you have gone upward without grounding. Shorten the practice and spend more time on the root — walking, physical work, weight and contact — before going back.
Reading This Without Believing Anything in Particular
You do not have to accept subtle-body anatomy for this material to be usable. The seven centres map neatly onto a sequence of ordinary human concerns — am I safe, do I feel anything, can I act, can I connect, can I speak, can I see clearly, does this mean anything — and that sequence is a genuinely useful diagnostic when something feels stuck and you cannot name where.
Read that way, “my throat chakra is blocked” becomes “there is something I am not saying,” which is actionable. The symbolic vocabulary is doing what symbols do: giving a shape to something otherwise hard to point at.
